How to apostille a Florida Certificate of Status

When a Florida company submits documents to a foreign authority (a bank, a commercial registry, a regulator, or a business counterpart in Latin America), it's common to be asked for proof that the entity legally exists and is currently active. Florida's official name for that document is Certificate of Status, though many people informally call it "Good Standing," borrowing the term used in other states.
To apostille a Florida Certificate of Status: 1) confirm the company is listed as active in Sunbiz; 2) confirm the receiving party actually wants a Certificate of Status and not certified Articles; 3) request the official document from the Florida Department of State; 4) process the apostille through the Florida Division of Corporations; 5) confirm translation and maximum-age requirements with the foreign recipient. An ordinary Sunbiz printout does not substitute for the official Certificate of Status.
