How to apostille U.S. company documents for use in China

Since November 7, 2023, China has applied the Apostille Convention alongside the United States. For U.S. public documents that fall within the scope of the Convention, an apostille replaced the older process of Chinese consular legalization. But the change in procedure doesn't remove the need to prepare each corporate document carefully: the right entity, the right signature, and the right apostille authority.
Since November 7, 2023, U.S. public documents covered by the Apostille Convention no longer need Chinese consular authentication. State-issued document: state apostille. Notarized private document: usually, apostille from the notary's state. Eligible federal document: federal apostille. China can still require translation, particular formatting, a recent issue date, or other substantive requirements.
